Congratulations to LEAP for its first global RAP! We skyped with Nicaragua to receive observations and additional input on our discussion.
We talked about one of the student’s issues dealing with talking back to teachers. One LEAP member has been having difficulties in school because he or she feels unable to communicate without offending his or her teachers. When consulting our partners, they could not even comprehend talking back to a teacher; rather, Nicaragua thought we were talking about giving verbal contributions during their classes. This came as a culture shock to us in the US – as we’re sure it did in Nicaragua as well.
What do you do about discipline in school – or any other institution for that matter?
How do you handle issues where what you say can offend someone else?
