Family: Single Mother, who can not work because she drinks (changaa), he has to care for her and the bills. Father died in an accident. 1st born died of Malaria (around the time father died) and 3rd born was poisoned by somebody they knew (likely due to lack of care from mother and another mouth to feed).
Education: Never finished grade 8 due to school fees
Time at FAFU: 1.5 years. FAFU changed his life, he has not done drugs since he started. He was quiet and closed off, in bad groups, bullied and did drugs. Now loves people and has hope, something he did not have before the program.
Health: Victor has eyesight problems, has to wear sunglasses, any sun makes tears. He now wears glasses thanks to a sponsor.
Visit’s FAFU daily to see the kids and staff, whom he cares for. Wants work and will take any job he can get. Caring for his mom seems difficult but he accepts the chore. If he left Kibera he would have to make enough to take her with him. Huge heart and personality but lacks a clear set of goals. He is a good and caring man who has had it rough. He has never left Kibera, until the dinner with CCT, and said that was one of the best nights in his life.

Age/Birthday: 18 years old
Education: Graduated high school 2013
Family: Lives with parents. Father: Formal Worker; Engineer – Iron Worker in Nairobie; Mother: Tailor. Aunt passed away and left 8 girls to her parents care, making it a big change in all areas of the family 10 people in 1 room, very hard.
Education: Finishing Form 4 this year. Wants to be a lawyer and go to a university.
Time at FAFU: 1.5 years, Chair person
She was very driven to finish school, living with 10 people in a small house. She is a VERY driven young woman. Wants to change Kibera, her world and be a lawyer to help change laws.
Mersye has a sense of strength that is unmatched by other youth. Wants all youth to do the same and educated them on early pregnancy, abstinence, drive them to follow dreams, stay off the streets and be good people.
She is also very driven on making change now in the youth of Kibera and also coming back to make change later. I think she can do anything she puts her mind to.
Age/Birthday: 15 Years
Education: Just finished STD 8
Family: LIves with aunt in Nairobi. Was with her Dad in Mombasa (deceased, as is her mother). Her aunt washes clothes. Uncle is in Kioli. There are 7 boys in the home and they can not afford there but they care for her as best they can.
Education: STD 8 but sent home due to school fees. She LOVES learning and very eager to find a way to go to school.
Time at FAFU: She is very new, brought in by her friend Mercy (Mersey’s younger sister). She likes FAFU because it gets her out of the house and gives her ways of having and sharing ideas.
Life seemed to change rapidly for her. She used to have no trouble going to school and had a father she loved. She is now feeling like a burden and not part of a family, which is all shoved into really small quarters. She is full of energy and really goofy. She has a personality like nobody else in the group. You should see her play soccer! She has so much spirit regardless of what has happened.
-Finish high school: May seem small but with out this she can not do much with her life and she does not see much of a way to even reach this goal with the financial and family situation the way it stands. She goes to school everyday until they send her home. This is how she is determined she is to get as much learning as possible.
